Your privacy is critically important to us. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have concerning your data.
Last updated: March 6, 2026
• Account Information: We collect your full name and phone number during registration. • Location Data: Location is essential for our Service. - Foreground Location: We collect your location when you are actively using the app to enable map-based features like Community Zones and to pinpoint your location for an SOS. - Background Location: We ONLY collect your location in the background when you have explicitly activated the "Safe Journey" feature. The app will display a persistent notification to remind you that your location is being shared. We do not track your background location at any other time. • User-Generated Content: We collect the information you provide for Community Zones (name, description, location). • Device Information: We collect a unique device identifier (UUID) to manage push notifications and sessions. • Device Telemetry (Safe Journey only): When you activate a Safe Journey or Secure Outing, we also collect: - Battery level and charging state - Network type and connectivity status - GPS accuracy/precision - Device speed, heading, and altitude This telemetry helps your trusted contacts assess your safety status in real time and is only collected while a journey session is active.
We use push notifications to deliver critical safety alerts, SOS notifications, and journey updates. To enable this, we collect your device's push notification token (provided by Expo Push Notification Service and Firebase Cloud Messaging). You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings, but this may significantly impact the app's ability to alert you during emergencies. We do not use push notifications for marketing or advertising purposes.
NikoSafe does not collect, store, or process any biometric data (such as fingerprints, facial recognition data, or voiceprints). Any biometric authentication used to unlock the app is handled entirely by your device's operating system and is never transmitted to our servers.
We use analytics and crash reporting tools to improve app stability and user experience. This includes: • Crash Reports: When the app encounters an error, we collect anonymized crash data including device model, OS version, and stack traces. This data does not contain personally identifiable information. • Usage Analytics: We collect aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve the Service. We do not track individual user behavior for advertising purposes. • Performance Monitoring: We monitor app performance metrics to ensure optimal service delivery. Third-Party SDKs: We use the following third-party services: - Firebase (Google) — authentication, push notifications, and cloud storage - RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management - Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring - Expo — push notification delivery and over-the-air updates All analytics data is processed in accordance with our data minimization principles and is not shared with third-party advertisers.
